    GMS10 not getting power

    I got a GMS-10 Box for a great deal from ebay. I ran a wire to my cranking battery and plugged the power cable into the box and nothing is lighting up. The power LED doesnt light up. I called garmin and they said I should check with a volt meter and see if the cable is bad. The cable has 13v's running to the end of the power cable. With those who have the box, when you put your power cable into the box does anything light up? I think my GMS 10 box is bad. Thanks for any help

    I wired mine up to a power block that was fused under the dash. When I powered it up I also thought it was bad as no light went on, I checked my wires again then powered it up again and let it sit a few minutes then it was working fine. Hope this helps you .

    By chance did did you have your network cable hooked into the GMS 10? Or did you just leave the power hooked up?

    I had all connections connected, power and all 3 units connected to the gms 10 and when it did not power up right away it scared me as then I would have to disconnect all cables and start over. After about 3 power ups I just left it on and there must have been a sequence it had to go through as after a few minutes the power light went on and all was good.

    My understanding is a display unit would active the box to come on.

    Just connecting the power cables to it won't do anything.

    I'll verify on Tues or maybe Weds if yours isn't working. I don't know about the lights bc mine is hidden and out of sight.

    It only comes on when you power up a unit on the network.

    Thanks everyone, I figured it out. The power LED will not light up unless the chart plotters are on and the Ethernet cables are plugged in. Pretty happy it worked considering I got this brand new off ebay for 65 bucks.
