    Shipping Gamblers

    Should say SHOPPING Gamblers.

Looking at a nice shape 2000 DC2100 with 250 XB. A few questions, since I'm an old Ranger guy...

Are these rated for 250s? Want to make sure I'm insurable.

How do they handle rough water? I'm used to Ranger stability and corresponding lack of speed.

How long are the rod lockers?

Source for a good boat cover?

What else should I be paying attention to?

    Thanks!

Most 2100's are rated for 285..there are a few with 300 rating.

If you're used to a Ranger in rough water, you'll have no problem with a Gambler.

    9' rods should clear.

Aurora Covers can build you a cover.

Because of their unique hull design, there is a learning curve in driving. They are not the best boats for stump infested lakes with the air entrapment hull.

    Exclamation

only thing i would *note on the 2000 year boat is the following...
again this isn't a deal breaker, but some people have developed bad opinions due to this build/year...

***in 2000, most models of the 2100 DID NOT COME WITH TRIM TABS***...
the recess is there, but no trim tabs...
i know a handful did come in the later part of that year with them, but most of those were labeled "2001" year model...

PLEASE NOTE... the TRIM TABS MAKE a GAMBLER ... it will allow you to run a taller pitch prop in the summer months and still have great hole shot...
as well as the rough water ride at SLOWER speeds...
i personally would NOT own another Gambler without Tabs... my $.02...

FYI...The recessed area for a Gambler with trim tabs is different from one without, so retrofitting isn't possible.

Thanks all. Think I'm going to wait for one with the integrated trim tabs.

Those recesses were called "Nills Notches" and were less than worthless. Perhaps if you ever had the chance to meet Nills(Bob's son) in person you would be able to appreciate the similarities....

if you have the boat set up right, the trim tabs not a big deal. don't get me wrong they are nice and do help on the newer models but do have there problems. older boats like my 209 didn't need them. mine will jump out of water. running pro xs with 26'' fury. a lot to do with balance in the boat. know these boats and owners well. had 4 of them. live in florida. close to plant. use to sell them

again...go back and read what we said...
" the 2000 year model" 2100 has a total different bottom hull, than your 209...
    my first G was a 1999 209...
    zero hole shot issues...
