    Norris Lake

My daughter is getting married near Twin Cove Marina in mid-October, and that is where we will be staying for a few days. Born and raised just south of Knoxville, but I have never fished Norris. Any tips for finding a tug or two on that end of the lake?

Very clear and can be tough. I would try an early topwater bite that time of year.

Should be able to catch them almost anyway you choose. I'd start with topwater and then go with creature bait fished through downed trees on the banks... Spinnerbaits and crankbaits should have the place also... A lot will depend on water temps... Dan

Unless there are some drastic weather pattern changes (which do not appear to be forecasted at this point), water temps are still gonna be high. I don't know what they are on Norris now, but they're still in the 80's on Loudoun/Tellico.

Was in the low 80*'s when I left on Monday... Another thing, they've been dropping the water level a good bit also, already 13ft below summer pool. Anyone know why???... According to their historical data on the TVA website they're almost a full month ahead of schedule with the water drop... Dan

If it isn't raining why let the water out???... As we all know it hasn't rained in over a month, but the TVA is still gonna drop the lake about a half foot in the next two days... Makes no sense... Dan

Cave spring and and little cove creek. Throw a sexy shad colored spook or black buzz toad till 10 am. The start looking deeper, main channel points around 15-20 foot. Should produce for yah. Its a tough bite after 11am right now. Only fish we catch after that come on a carolina rig with a smaller centipede plastic or smaller zoom trickworm. Tight lines!

Because TVA is a power company. And ACs take power to run them.

Pretty sure they draw in order to get the electric turbines going there and elsewhere. I was told that if power is needed downstream, the draw starts at Norris due to it's location to the other TVA lakes.

Yeah blue mud is already out of the water, wish they would take that ramp deeper.

Anyone know the current water temp? I'm curious how quickly it will drop with this cold front moving in. Looks like the water level is 1006' today.

It's going to be interesting to see how bass respond. I'm heading down next weekend (Thur-Sun) to get away and relax.

Anyone know if Whitman Hollow Ramp is open? I'm heading down this weekend and am staying 2 miles from the mouth of Big Creek (east side). The place I'm staying at has a private ramp, but I don't think it's usable with the water being so low. I'm looking for a public ramp if anyone has any suggestions.

On a side note, I've heard the topwater bite is on fire right now - any truth to that?? Thanks

I'm having trouble finding "Little" Cove Creek on the map. No problem finding Cave Spring, and it is close to Twin Cove.

You're in the right area. Little Cove Creek is at Twin Cove Marina. See photo below.
