Subject: White River Basin Comprehensive Study

Please send this out to all the members of your respective fishing clubs.
I stumbled across it by a Facebook Post on Lake Norfork Lovers group.
I know the Striper Club has not been alerted. I haven’t heard anything about it from the other Clubs.
We need to get as many fishermen as we can to the upcoming meeting here at ASU in Mountain Home.
The current water management plan has had disastrous effects on fishing in High Water Years (which seems to be every other year)
The fish Kill on Norfork was terrible again this year. The USACE says they are required to follow the existing Water Management Plan regardless of its impact on the Lake(s).
This may be a step to getting that Plan changed.

A-State and Corps of Engineers White River Basin Study
Arkansas State University (A-State) and the US. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) are collaborating in the White River Basin Comprehensive Study to help understand the conditions and challenges the people in the larger area of White River basin are facing due to emerging changes in water use demands. Collaborations across multiple agencies and stakeholders are crucial for large basin-wide studies especially when the expected tasks are complex due to the mixed nature of watershed usage; flood control, hydroelectric power, water supply, environmental stewardship and recreation, and water control plan. The ultimate goal of the study is to provide an updated comprehensive basin-wide study that examines all uses of water in the basin and how well the system provides resources to meet those needs.
As a first step, we’d like to gather stakeholder inputs pertaining to current USACE operational procedures through stakeholder information sessions and interviews. We are inviting you to participate in a private interview conducted by Halff Associates on behalf of Arkansas State University at 2:30 p.m. on September 11th 2019 at the Visitor Center Meeting Room at Jacksonport State Park.
For more information or to RSVP contact Shane Broadway at (501) 660-1001 or Emailsbroadway@asusystem.edu and indicate who will attend from your organization.
There will also be three public meetings organized to allow stakeholders and the public to offer comments. Those dates are:
Sept. 11, 6-7:30 p.m. at Jacksonport State Park Visitor Center, Newport, AR
Sept. 30, 6-7:30 p.m. at ASU-Mountain Home Campus, The Sheid/Trout Nature Center Room, Mountain Home, AR
Oct. 29, 6-7:30 p.m. at Table Rock Dewey Short Visitor Center, Branson, MO

God bless,
