What prop do I have?
I’ve been trying some different props and one that came with my boat as a spare is running really well. The thing is it’s old and beat up. I have to think that a newer version or a prop with similar characteristics would run even better. My motor is a 93 black max 175.
The prop is 24 pitch 3 blade, has a pressed in hub and no markings on it other than inside the barrel it says M 24. Then on the motor side of the hub I can make out T2. Any thoughts? All the edges rare roughed up and one blade is slightly bent.
I’ve been dealing with weight issues after a talon install and this thing has me breaking over onto plane right at 3800-3900. Top end at 5400 over loaded with two big guys and tackle. 56 mph.
Boat is a 91 skeeter sx175.

Test a 23P Trophy Plus and a 22P Bravo1 FS or XS.

So I tested the 23p Trophy plus today. Too many RPMs out of the hole. 4900 at break over. Top end had the right RPMs though at 5600 and the same speed as the 24p 3 blade mystery prop. I believe 5600 is the top end for this motor without redlining.
Based on this info does it change your suggestion on the next prop to test?

Get a blowout ring and or plug some of the pvs holes. That will slow the rpms down on take off. That should be the right prop for your rig.

PVS holes are all plugged. I will try the blowout ring. Thanks!

Prop seal worked perfectly. She’s dialed in! Thanks guys. Another bbc success story.
