The only time it’s good to live near an airport

The Collins foundation is in town doing a show... have had B-17 Flying Fortress, a B-24 Liberator, the B-25 Mitchell, P-51 Mustang and P-40 Warhawk flying almost directly over my house all day (was at a bbc event and missed 2 days )

Must have been one sight and sound to see and hear back then to have a squadron fly over back in the war !!

Only have camera phone pictures hope they show up alright .. been sitting on the deck all day watching .. simply awesome to hear them coming !!

Love watching that era plane fly. Have seen them in Chicago as well as Sanibel.

My 15 year old grandson & I flew on their B17 earlier this year. What an experience! I'd post pictures but Imjr deleted my account without any notice.

The year before I had the honer of meeting a man who flew 25 missions in a B 24 as the navigator. The B 24 had just landed and the man was standing near where the people just got off the plane. I asked him if he just returned from a ride...he just kind of smiled proudly and said "no, I flew on them enough"! It kind of sent chills down my spine.I was standing and talking to a REAL war hero. What an honor.

Ah the sounds of freedom. I met and paid for his dinner of a WWII Army Air Corp man Friday evening.

Been quite a few years ago but I worked with a gentleman that was a side door gunner on a B 17 over Europe. He told me to this day he did not know how any of them made those bombing runs and lived to tell about

We used to go up to the fly-in at Moosehead Lake every Sept and they always had a few military planes buzzing the event. Always worth the trip.

Neat pictures. Thanks for posting. These military folks if all branches were/are the real deal.

If I see someone wearing a WWII hat I make an extra effort to approach them and say thank you.

They were here back in the spring. We went and looked at the planes. You could pay for a flight but we didn't do it. Was very cool to see them.
