    Video doorbell

Looking to get a video door bell. Some charge a monthly fee and I do not want that. Why should I pay a fee when others do not. So, which one is good without a monthly fee?

Not technically a doorbell cam...I use the Blink camera system.
They are linked though my home wifi. I just added 2 of the XT models giving me two way communication.
    No monthly fees.
    Easy setup.
    Wireless.

I have 4 of the Blink XT's with one of just above my doorbell. I agree, easy set up and no fees. I got mine through QVC and got 2x storage as part of the deal.

EDIT: Mine are the newer XT2's.

Another vote for Blink. Myself, my brother and brother in law have had them for years. Very user friendly system, setup and no fees.

Not a doorbell; but just mount it by your regular doorbell and you can set it up to send you alerts when it senses motion. And the XT2 has two-way talk; so you can still talk to whoever is at the door.

BUT........keep in mind; unless you use the micro usb plug on the back to hardwire the power, if it’s in a high activity area, it’ll drink down the battery power. I have several of my outdoor ones plugged in to outdoor lights with power running to light socket USB adapters from Amazon.

I have a Ring now, and they charge a monthly fee. Do not want to pay that.

For those of you that have blink... I was looking into it and it says it will record for 5 seconds when motion is detected or you can change that to a minute. 5 seconds seems too short, but if it is detecting a passing car a minute would be too much. If there is motion still present, will it immediately retrigger and continue to record as long as motion is present?

Are you guys using any WiFi extenders or maybe a more powerful router to be able to have these
devices work? I had the Ring doorbell with camera and it kept freezing up so I took it back, I’d really like to get
Arlo2 or Blink but not sure what’s needed

I tried a WiFi extender with my Blink cameras and it was very problematic. It wasnt necessary to use the extender in my case; was just trying something out. Moving my router to another spot in the house solved my range issue. (I was putting a camera further out in the backyard)

I added a WiFi extender to get one of the cams to connect to the router. I had to name it the same as the router's network name as you can't have the cameras split between the main router name and the extender's _ext name.
