I’m thinking my prop is a bit steep.

Just bought boat about a month ago, starting upgrades for performance and I noticed it’s turning a 28 raker on a 201 PE with a 99 200 Evinrude. Anyone else think this is a bit steep of a prop for a 200 on the 201v

-- 200 carb motor? 24p or 25p likely best mine came with a 26p raker on a 20 footer and it was fine but I liked the 25p 4 blade better I installed later

200 ficht (let the bashing begin). I believe my tach is off however shows running 5400rpm at 58mph gps. Also person who had the boat before me had a transom setback with a CMC backplate bolted to it. Anyone see this kind of setup before?

how far is motor from the hull? 200 ficht is what I have also, been a great motor (original owner) i can hit 70 without talons and about 65 with talons running a 24p bravo1 with and a 25 renegade boger prop without talons easily. your numbers seem bad. need to try a 25 or 24 prop I bet, a good fresh prop. i would go with a 4 blade since it is a longer boat with a less hp motor

I just went and looked but forgot to take a tape measure with me, I’m guessing 4-6” on the setback and 6” plate. Guess I’m just curious what everyone else is running for props on similar setups.

My 93 spun a 26 Raker at 6300 rpms and held up all the bow lift I wanted. Could have turned more prop if I wanted. My 95 was all the same but had the pro deck yet did not perform nearly the same. OMC turned out some ringer motors and it was a crap shoot on who got the good ones. There was rumors that some 200's where actually getting 225 carbs from the factory but no way to tell.

That CMC plate should be 5 1/2" setback. Also, if that is a good prop you will be running a lot faster than 58 MPH.
