My book recommends 87 octane for my E150HGLABH (2017) Etec 150 HO

    What do most people use?

    thanks

E150HSLAAB which also calls for 87...since day 1 it has seen nothing but ethanol free 89 and Evinrude 2+4 every-time I add fuel. Currently around 224 hours with no fuel issues. Previous motor was Ficht 150 with right at 1000 hours and it got feed the same thing and had zero fuel issues.

Don’t take this as gospel—not that anyone would—but we have 7 guys in my bass club with E-Tec engines and none, including myself, has ever run anything other than 87 octane with 10% ethanol and zero additives. And none of us have ever had a fuel-related issue. I’ve run Evinrudes since 1981 and 6 E-Tecs in the last 10 years. The only time mine ever sees an additive is in winter storage. Bottom line, they will run well on 87 octane, even ethanol blends. One thing I am careful about is buying all my boat fuel from stations with high fuel turnover and a long track record of good fuel. Non-ethanol is typically about 90 cents per gallon more expensive here, and I can’t see that expense so long as I am having zero problems as is.

Similar experience as JC2BG, over 40-years of OMC and lately Evinrude DI (pre-Etec) motors, on 87 octane including E10 fuel. No issues.

All motors made in the last several years are approved to run 10% ethanol fuel. I know I could run it in mine but I chose not to do so. One could say I am throwing away .40 per gallon and I am fine with that. I know my motor also calls for 87 octane and I chose to run 89. I just don't think 2 points will harm my motor based on many years of use...so to answer the OP's question most people run 87 10% ethanol.

112 race fuel from the parts house. It keeps running even after turning the ignition off!
