Is 3 year old fluorocarbon still good

I’ve come across some 3 year spools of sun line in the garage. It’s been unopened in the garage should I spool it up or trash it? 12 and 16 pound test.

I keep mine in a special fridge. Keeps it away from light and heat. Lasts a long time.

I've always heard that heat and light were the worst things for fluorocarbon and 3 years in a garage in Vegas is a lot of heat.

Tie an overhand knot in it and see how easily it breaks. I believe it should be fine from other comments I’ve seen about fluorocarbon’s longevity.

Last week I finally had to re-spool a reel that had 5 yr old FC Sniper on it - I used what was left on the original spool. I keep all my spools of line in the basement where they are not subject to heat or light.

As suggested above tie some knots and give them a good tug to see if the line is still good to go. Going forward, might be an idea to keep spools of line in the house.

keep it in a dark container and in the frig....will last a long time. Experience has taught me that.

I hope it’s good for 3 years. I have Sniper on a couple of reels that’s 3 seasons old, and fished regularly. Still going strong.
