Johnson Lower unit cracked water pump nut - recommended adhesive

Have a lower unit and dropped it today do to water pump issue and notice one of the water pump housing bolts is loose and where it screws into the lower unit the integrated nut is cracked. What is the recommended epoxy / adhesive to glue it back?

The nut is integrated into the gearcase with image attached.
The model # is: J200STLERK

The bolt is 1/4 20p try retapping the hole and go with a longer bolt or use a helicoil.

Unfortunately there isn’t the option to helicoil or longer bolt. Will post a picture tomorrow of the broken spot.

And I apparently know nothing. I'll wait for his pictures but the way he describes it he may need a new gearcase housing.

I'm still looking for he internal nut for the gearcase.

I think by "integrated nut", he means the threaded portion of the case. If it can't be retapped to a larger (not longer) size or helicoiled, then yes, he's going to need a new gearcase.

Attached are the photos where it cracked off. Ended up shimming behind the cracked section and filled in the cavity with engine epoxy. Will let you know how the fix turns out.

Replace the case, or maybe find someone that can weld it up and re-machine and thread. Thats a hack job(epoxy and shims),,,,replacement case cheap compared to a $3500 plus powerhead.

I would not sell this engine to anyone given the amount of headaches it has provided me when I bought the boat. Will repower this spring and retire the old Johnson.

Are you familiar with Marine Tex? I think you might build up the area around that broken piece with the gray Marine Tex, and then helicoil the threads. If you cleaned the area real good and left it rough, it might work. You can build up as much as you want in that area, !/2 inch even. The torque on those bolts is small, way less than most guys tighten them down to. I've seen cracked inboard blocks fixed with this stuff. I've seen stripped threads drilled out oversize, the hole filled with Marine Tex. then drilled and tapped to original threads. That might be an option for you.

Thanks for the recommendation. I used white Marine Tex as I didn’t have gray and will helicoil it tomorrow.
