2000 Triton TR-186 - New Trolling Motor Advice.

My Brute 67lbs Trolling Motor bit the dust.
Looking for suggestions on what type of trolling motor I should get. I am not in a club for tournaments, and the boats gets used maybe 10-15 times a season. Ive been looking at a Minn Note 70lb Maxxum or a Motorguide x3.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated.

A good used motorguide tour in whatever lb/volt you need. Great motors. If you have a local trolling motor repair shop, they usually have some that they have fixed up.

I have a TR186, and I have an 80 pound 24 V Ultrex. It would be the last thing on the boat I would give up. I can’t imagine fishing without it anymore. My .02

I have the exact same boat and had a 67# too. If you want to save money, look for a used 80# Foretrex with a 45" shaft. There's alot in my area for sale from guys upgrading to the Ultrex. Night and day performance increase plus better battery usage. If you want new, get a 80# Ultrex.

The hole patterns will line up with any Minnkota you decide to put on it. Double check portside storage door opperation/clearance and that the stabilizer (foretrex/ultrex) lands on the deck. You may need to pivot from the front most hole and redrill a few of them if you need to bring it inside the gunnel.

    Good luck!

Fortrex 80lb on mine and it's great. If I had to choose between the two you listed it would be the Minn Kota..

If you don't want to break the bank, it is a buyer's market for lightly used Minn Kota fortrex tms. If money isn't an issue go ultrex.

The Maxxum is a good trolling motor and I ran a used one for 10 years. It was still working great when I replaced it with an Ultrex. Get the Ultrex if ya can

Everyone is looking for Ultrex's now and you should be able to get a good deal on a 80lb Fortex.

Agreed; You can find a used MG Tour 82 around $400. Tough as nails, very reliable. MG is bringing the Tour back for a reason.

Check the for sale forum here. Always deals popping up, especially now that so many are moving to the new stuff.
