Hunters here in NC buy them and turn them into deer hunting stands. The ones for handicapped use are the most sought after. Clean it out and add some windows and you are good to go. Some mount them up on platforms if the county requires that rifle hunting must be done a certain feet off the ground. Normally they purchase the damaged ones though.

Back in 2013, a natural gas fracking company truck lost a wheel while driving and it hit my brand new SUV. A fracking company person called me to give me all their insurance info. That same guy called me back making sure everything was fixed to my satisfaction. It was btw. He then said he had to deal with several stolen port a John's. I thought he was kidding me, but he said they have them stolen frequently. He said they are located off the beaten path near fracking sites so they are easily stolen. He went on to say that some people steal them and cut the tanks out, paint them and use them as camp outhouses. Go figure.
