2005 21XD Buying Advice?

I’m looking at a 2005 21XD this weekend with a 2005 Merc 250XS/TM 1.62 lower.

Any my issues with these boats? Places to check for common issues?

WV BULLET is correct. I have the exact same year boat & motor combo. And yes I love my Bullet. This is my 3rd Bullet in 25 years. I have had two 21xd's in the last 21 years. Great ride. great fishing, HUGE amounts of storage, great speed and not to mention the sexiest looking boat on the water hands down. I was getting 83mph with 2 people tournament load and live wells full and 3/4 tank of gas. I boogered up a great running prop and I just purchased a 26 ProMax. I have not had the chance to work and adjust the ProMax yet but it is outstanding for everything but not as fast the way it sits on top end. About 3-4 MPH off. But the mid range and handling on the ProMax is outstanding. The 21xd Bullets really ride well.

inspect the trailer for rust , if still has carpet on the steps it could be bad , also the top of the axles under the boat. The only other thing that comes to mind is check all pumps as they are work to change it might be something worth looking into . Look at all the hinges they tend to open up around the rod then need replacing .

+1 on the trailer, my 2004 I reconditioned because of the rust, replaced the fenders, all new bunk risers and bunks, and paint, the carpet on the steps holds water which leads to rust

where it sits on the bunks. You gonna have to raise it or strap it and let it hang off the trailer.. I wouldn't buy one (2004-2009) without checking.

Check the corners of the openings under the seats for cracks. Pull the plastic trays out and check under them. The fiberglass busted under both the drivers and passengers seats on my 04 and I had to have it re-glassed.

Check the livewell for cracks. A crack developed on the bottom of mine and was leaking.

You must have run the hell out of that boat in some really rough water. I often did the same to one (20XD) and it had spider cracks in the gel everywhere .... I blame it on myself though. I often wondered how the motor could even stay on the way I drove it ... like a bucking bull! ... one tough boat though!

I have had 3 Bullets in 25 years. 1990, 1994, 2005 all good and looked as good as the day I sold them as the day I brought them home. Thank goodness.

He’s asking 25k with a new Motorguide GPS trolling motor and a pair of HDS7’s.
It’s got 130hrs on the smartctaft meter. Carpet is good, Hull looks good. No stress cracks. I couldn’t check under the bunks, but may try getting it in the water and swimming under with goggles to feel for blisters.

A Bullet that year and excellent condition with those low hours will price 22,000-25,000 and with that kind of TM and electronics should put it in the ball park.

If I stayed at home every time the wind blew I'd never get to fish. That opening under the seats is a poor design. I had the fiberglass shop box it in for reinforcement.

Well, did you buy it? There aren't many Bullets here in Ct., in fact other than mine I've never seen one here. You will definitely not regret the purchase...just check it out like the guys have suggested. Best of luck!!

is it a boat from Western Massachusetts ? I have a bud out there with a 05 like your talking about . Haven't talked to him in a few years
