.44 Magnum or .45/70 would be my choices.

350 Legend. It's a new round. There was a writeup about it in the last American Rifleman.

350 Legend or a 450 Bushmaster would be my choice.

350 legend.... 150 gr bullet at 2200-2300fps. Absolutely no recoil. I’ve got a savage axis in left hand(340 bucks). An e-carbo trigger spring and shim kit in it(20 bucks). I’m shooting under 1” groups at 100 with Winchester and hornady ammo... the 450bm is a handful if you’re recoil sensitive.

I have killed deer at distances up to 75 yards with a T/C Encore pistol in .44 Mag. A rifle barrel would extend that range considerably. The .350 Legend as noted above has been getting rave reviews and might be worth looking into.

450 Bushmaster. I have one and love it. Hoping to see how it does this fall.

But it does not have a shoulder so the walls are straight. Ohio mentions it as a legal round.

All cartridge cases have a taper, or they wouldn't chamber, as long as it isn't a necked round it's considered a straight wall cartridge.

Some are in fact straight. 357 mag 38 special, 45 colt etc. The 45-70 is in fact tapered as the case is larger in diameter at the head than it is at the mouth.

there are a lot of good options. all of the above works but would also consider 444. if you want a challenge use a pistole if allowed. a revolver in 44 mag is what I use time for time and have also used 357 mag.
for rifle straight wall I use a 444 marlin and that round is awesome but be ready as it kicks like a mule.

The 350 is a tapered case also. Ohio has a list of accepted cartridges if you want to check.

True but it is still a straight walled case.

You might take a look at shotgun slug barrels as well. They are surprisingly accurate with modern sabot rounds.

As well as the places listed above, you can also find Encore barrels here:

Shoot me a PM if you have questions. I have been shooting Encore rifles and pistols extensively for over 20 years.
