    45-70. I've got a "real" Marlin, before Remington bought them. Shooting the Hornady Leverevolution bullets, with the assistance of a Leupold scope, at 100 yards you can literally stack round after round into 1 ragged hole. Besides deer, can take down anything in North America.

    Not trying to perpetuate an argument but every reloading manual that I have lists tapered cases and straight cases as distinctly separate designs.
