15 from the east you wont see me out there but im in a 19 foot boat not a 21.. even if I had a 21 though a 15 from the east on Oneida is not for me. Heard of too many deaths on Oneida. I love fishing but fishing isnt worth leaving my son without a dad.

No doubt And It wouldn't matter if you had a 24 ft Bass boat. 15 out of the east = food beer and BS/ down time at the cabin

I have a buddy that sunk a boat on the East end of Oneida. We rented a house, my father and I pulled our boats the night before the storm. He got drunk and said he wasn't worried about it. It got battered really bad on the dock, motor was half under water. We bailed it out and he tried to run the trolling motor a mile or so away in 2-3 footers. Water was just pouring in. It was a 17ft deep v tracker.
He made it half way and ended up towing it back wading up to his waist! The next day the winds calmed down and we got it out but the boat was totaled. That's one reason I don't vacation there anymore. Only rental on the lake that has a break wall is three pines.

Hate to give up my spot but Charlie's Boat livery. Cabins are ehh, only 3 cabins 12×16 and camp sites also, but safe harbor and on the west end of the lake. Toad Harbor.

Water temps are still in the high 60s and the bite is a little tough. Its supposed to cool down and rain next week. They're still going to be in transition, but I think you'll see that anywhere in the region. Fished Otisco this week too and had to flip deep grass for largemouth, won't be lights out there either. However if there's a stong enough southeast wind to rule out oneida, onondaga isnt much fun either. Mostly W/NW wind in the forecast anyways. I'd still make a trip bc why not, the bait has already started moving and the bass should be close behind

I found this website https://www.localsyr.com/weather/marine-forecast/. If you click on Oneida it says the current water temp is 71. Can anyone confirm if that is accurate?

Hopefully it will get down to those temps by 10/14. If it does, what baits do I want to make sure I have on the boat? I still have time to pick up anything I need that I don't already have.

Thank you. I saw a report that the YOY gizzard shad had grown to the point that the bass were starting to feed on them. How big would those shad be?

Was out on Cayuga Thursday , same very tough. Water was 69 to 70 managed 5 largies but only 5 and it was a struggle. this fall transition has been longer and tougher then I can remember.
