How about fda is held accountable. It’s their job to verify what the companies are saying. FDA as much to blame as anyone. Several folks responsible.

Amazing how mad the government gets when you use there rules and loopholes against them. They passed these bankruptcy laws to protect their large contributors and them self's yet when its used not to pay them they are appalled. As someone else said where is the FDA on this they seem very quiet, didn't they say this drug was safe?

The drug is safe when used appropriately. Dam shame almost a quarter million people had to die before someone with a voice realized that appropriate use was not what was happening.

It is unthinkable that Purdue or the family owners be the ones to set the terms of this settlement.

They family and company will not be able to unilaterally dictate the terms of the settlement in Bankruptcy. You will have creditors committees filled with a lot of angry people that are going to be demanding their pound of flesh. Any plan they propose is going to have to pass muster with a good number of the creditors before it gets confirmed. This is not going to be a quick or easy process.

Can anybody tell me what the purpose of the FDA is anymore? They were the ones providing government oversight on this.

I thought I'd combine this query and the meme thread.

I wish the law would go after the real problem , Heroin , it is killing hundreds of people everyday , but they blame it all on the pain pill, and that aint the problem, but they cant do shit about the Heroin so they go after the pill and say look here we did something , it will soon be impossible to get a pain all because of regulation that has zero effect on the real drug problem , Heroin , im bout tired of having to piss in a cup and have my pills counted everytime I go to the dr. it is rediculous

From what I have read the FDA does very little testing directly and rely on other companies paid by the Pharma companies to do the trials.

Purdue PHARMA should have never been sued in the first place. Don’t like the drug....get off of it. Weak minded people......and yes I was on them heavy. Started for pain and then took to get thru a day. Horrible coming off, but I did it.......more than once. It’s the weak minds that go to heroin, cause it’s cheaper, and they just like the high now. Many people benefit from pain pills cause they need them, and many benefit cause It’s an excuse to get through life. I will never go back no matter what, most people don’t have the right frame of mind to say that. There are drugs out there that will help relieve the withdrawals, Suboxone for example. Problem is they don’t get high from it so they have no use......more excuses by people that don’t take responsibility for their own actions.

Well Heroin is what they turn to for the high when they can no longer get Oxycontin and such. It's a cruel world. Some people can't get off opiates once they start. I have a couple dozen opiates in the medicine cabinet I don't know why, when I was perscribed them I took a half or as small an amount that I could. Don't kick the Devil in the ass, stay away from them.
