Question Repowered... help getting the bugs out

    Hello all,
recently repowered from a Optimax XS to a new V8...
2B686170 pro XS V8 is new motor...

already had MercMonitor With digital trim , digital h2o pressure, and digital fuel gauge for tank... and all were working perfect prior to swap...

ran boat through thr first 2 hours of break in yesterday... IN LOVE TO SAY THE LEAST!!!

however noticed a couple issues , all with the data from the digital stuff above.. so I feel it should be related...

•now i I have NO H2O pressure reading on the Merc monitor
    • digital trim is way off sinc( can’t find the calibrate feature)
    • and my fuel reading isn’t working (shows 0 gallons, and I had approx 24-25)

    any help appreciated

Which Merc Monitor do you have?
Did you add the sensor for the water pressure to the
    V8?

i assumed since my 2016 XS was working it would be plug and play???
the H20 and the FUEL not being displayed is a real problem...

The monitor is the small rectangular one? That has limited info.

You have to add the water pressure sending unit. It is less than $100 and you can install your self. If you have old water pressure gauge you can install sending unit with tee and have both. There are posts on here about how to and it is easy. Not sure about your fuel ask your dealer.

A Mercmonitor is a specific Smartcraft gauge, as is the Smartcraft System Monitor, as is the System Tach and Speedo and Vessel View. Please see this topic to eliminate confusion - SMARTCRAFT Options

guys not sure why that was so difficult to describe which Smartcraft gauges i had...
however here is the title and a link to the one i have...

    ...HOWEVER... moving on...

    #1...FUEL value readout...
Dealer had missed a plug/wire for the Fuel Sender (+)... with a helpful phone call to mercury help line, they got me straight yesterday eve...
had to do a 52.6 Gal Fuel Tank Calibration, but got it fixed...
    #2...Trim...
    easy to get recalibrated...instant fix...
    #3...Water pressure...
So Mercury says that on these engines the Water Pressure is not nearly as vital as on the 2 strokes, ESPECIALLY the 2 stroke Optimax with a Compressor...
therefor they dont install the digital sender from Factory..
sorta sucks when i have a Merc Stand alone Digital gauge on my boat that isnt functioning now...
will probally add the sensor later just so i goes back to working...

    Lastly...
    Performance...
    needless to say...WOW>....
love this sucker everytime i sit down behind the wheel...
my 22xs Sterling is the Heaviest Gambler ever built, right at 2000Lbs of hull...
simply repowering made this boat feel LIGHT and Nimball in the water...total change in feel and i LOVE IT...

i will be playing with Props...
it does seem like a 1-2" drop in pitch will be suiting...
my previous favorite prop was the 29 Bravo XS(STOCK 8 PVS holes)...
it works just fine on this boat, however i can only turn it right at 5900 rpms, (84 degree water/air temp) so its close, but i will be playing around again with Props...

The water pressure sensor is fairly inexpensive, give European Marine a call.
The install is brain dead easy...
Whilst I agree w/ Merc maybe is not as important, I still like having it, as it is an early warning to deteriorating Impeller/H2O pump, or clogged pickups...
You are already in to this thing for may thousands...the H2O pressure sensor is decimal points!

On the Water Pressure Sensor- you can install simply the sensor (replaces the analog fitting and tube atop STB side of the block/head), OR if you want BOTH analog and digital, there is an "Alternate Rigging Method" described in the FAQ Section (complete with Part Numbers).

Rhonda can set you up, either way.
