    Rodman Restoration

Orlando Sentinel had an article this morning about the push to drain Rodman and restore the river flow. Looks like this effort won't go away. One of the justifications is how much the state spends on spraying the vegetation.

This issue comes up every time they lower it. Never goes away. What they don’t realize is two things, that property is essentially useless without millions of dollars of restoration costs, and the amount of flow going into the St. John’s from the Ock is the same regardless of the dam being in place.

I agree. The other issue is the recreational lakes value add as opposed to the restoration cost. Removing the locks and damn and replanting the forest is likely cost prohibitive.

The "anti dams" crew , including the Riverkeeper , plan is to breech the road way and leave everything in place. that is what they are preaching now. they have no plan to control the run off or address the stagnate water that will occur. They really don't have feasible , working plan. They think the can just cut out the road where the river channel crosses and everything else will be fine.
