Yamaha gearcase compatibility

Hi, does anyone know if the 4.2 SHO gearcase will bolt up to the 2.8L i4 150/175?

I'm not sure on that one.... but i'm curious to hear the answer. That would make for a pretty cool combo on a light boat.

I briefly asked a tech at a local dealer, he seemed to think they would but couldn't confirm 100%. The bolt pattern I believe is the same, so if the shaft spline is the same, and the lineage is the same??? Should fit. Might be a better way than coning the smaller SHO, and get the lower gears as well.
