High dollar A rig at that !!
Been there and done it
Sent my last spook into the woods on a epic trip to Canada when I was in my early twenties. 2 hour drive later and I was back in business.
I never ran out of baits since then
It's amazing how far they fly when that happens.
I’m pretty sure I’ve put a couple in orbit....

It is amazing to thing how much distance is lost because of the drag and friction of the line, eyes, reel.
No one can be wrong that often so it has to be deliberate.
My buddy and I were fishing on lake Ontario and catching some good smallmouth on rattle traps when I turned around and cast as far as I could out the other side of the boat to clean up my line and proceeded to catch a close to 5 pounder. We both started casting that direction and both started catching much larger fish. This went on for awhile and we sorta got into a competition to see who could make the longest cast. I wound up and tried to cast as far as I could and my line broke and that rattle trap almost sailed out of sight. My buddy just turned to me without smiling and said you win.

You hear that line snap and I immediately think of the EverReady Bunny, just keeps on going and going and going.
I sent a 110 vision into orbit once. Not happy.
GETFISHED !!!
If I have a floating lure on I try to keep an eye on it and retrieve it, if I'm in open water. I have actually found some traps that had a long tag line of mono floating after they went into orbit.
I did it once with a Spro Aruku Shad about 10 years ago. Still not sure it has landed
First tournament I ever fished and first cast I launched a bomber flat A into the woods.
That's what he gets for throwing an A-rig
To me its not about loosing the lure...its about the professional overrun that ensues.
