I like to reflect back on a comment from a Sociology teacher I had in college when these types of discussions occur. "To effectively punish a poor man for a non-violent crime you take away his money, and for a rich man you take away his time." She and that whore Martha Stewart should have experienced long prison sentences.

In my opinion her sentence was a joke. Everyone involved should have paid a higher price. Once again fame and money can offset guilt.

And those who were on the "receiving end", The ones who took the bribes? They usually get the hammer or a Plea Bargain that ends up biting them later on.

I saw 30 K for fine won't cover much of the cost of the trial

Ok. Before everyone crucifies this woman upside down on a cross.

There are government employees that put their hands out for these "Donations". Back in my construction days we dealt with the same kind of crap. There were inspectors that you either paid or you'd never get anything passed. $500 would save you $10,000 in additional work. We paid it and went on about our business. At one time I was in another kind of contracting business. We regularly bid on public contracts. If you wanted to be chosen for the job there were things that were expected. Seeing to it that more than one politician had a nice place to stay in Gatlinburg with tickets to Dollywierd for their family was mandatory.

Government employees put their hands out regularly like Billy Goat's Gruff and you can either pay or forget playing. Everytime someone gets caught people want to prosecute the payor of the toll not the payee.

I think the people taking the bribes are the truly guilty ones here.

I thought that they said she had a choice of a couple different dates to start this ‘Hard Time’. I think she is waiting until her designer jump suit is ready.

Martha Stewart was put away for insider trading. We have 100 people in D.C that cannot be convicted of this. What is wrong with this picture? First they couldn’t, then voted they could, then reversed the vote they couldn’t.

The words Prison and 14 days should not be used in the same sentence. She will do about 8 days most likely. But I’m sure her lawyers made plenty!

I wouldn’t be surprised if she is allowed to do her 14 days on weekends...2 days a week. Common practice in some jurisdictions.

14 days is nothing. I'd voluntarily do 14 days for no reason. That's nothing. Shes getting off way to easy.
