Revised US Coast Guard stickers for 595 boats

I received a certified letter in the mail today from Blazer Boats. It informed me that I needed to place on my boat a new replacement US Coast Guard sticker. It reduces the maximum capacity from 4 to 3 persons. And weight from 700lbs to 486lbs. Uhhhmmm to me this is a pretty big deal. That means technically that now I can not take my family of four together to fish as a family. Two, basically depending on who I have with me I could very easily be over the 486lbs with two guys.

I am am not in the least bit happy about this. I would have sure liked to have known something about this other than just a letter. How can you purchase something from a manufacturer with ratings stated on a boat. Then change it and think hey this is a great idea, folks won’t mind or be impacted in the least bit.

If you are happy with your old capacity sticker why change it?

Anyone know the reason for the capacity change? Isn't it a simple calculation? That is significant difference.

What 1Holeshot said. No one will give you a problem as long as you have a capacity plate.

I would think that you could ask your dealer to take the boat back for a refund. You bought a 4 person boat and they deceived you by selling you a 3 person boat. Your lawyer will agree with you if Blazer does not!

I wonder if the Coast Guard changed their requirements?

I came across this ad today and was wondering if was a "good deal"? It also has "Specifications' which read 4 Anglers/1250 lbs.

I noticed the boat had a 200 XS optimax 2 stroke engine. Curious what year model and hours are on the engine?

Ad says its a 2019 I think the boat is new and not used. Price is decent I would be willing to bet there is room to move on it with a 200 and not many options.

I posted this because Mercury went 4 stroke across the board in 2019. To the best of my knowledge Mercury no longer builds the 200 XS Optimax. The boat may be a 2019 but not the engine.

Brand and spanking... Looking, just to look, seems to be a real good deal. It would poke out the back side of my boathouse but that is the place I got my Ranger™ and "Michelle" saved me a ton of $$$ and Her Father drove down and took the Triton™ that I traded-in..
