My opinion , I would not run a boat without one , I run different heights with different loads it makes a big difference on hole shot .. not mention being able to run over skinny water if need be.

Tough decision, but once you own one, you'll never go without!

Your thinking a hydrofoil :) but yeah, on a 21XD its not really needed. On a 20XD its crazy how much it helps.

What the conversation about. A hydro plate on the boat hull like an Allison plate. Or a hydro Foil on the lower unit. There is a big difference.

I think the post is about a hydraulic jackplate.

Let's through a Allison drag plate in there and we could cover them all. Lol. I've never had a hydraulic jack plate on my bullets but I can see a advantage to them. I just never wanted to stack plates or add that extra weight back there for a 12 or 14 inch plate. Could be an advantage for shallow water on plane and running.

If I had a hydraulic plate, I'd be fooling with it all the time

See that my thinking too. One click too much and you're wet.

Hydraulic plates are nice. I've had them on two of my boats, but they aren't a necessity... If you get one make sure your water pressure gauge is working properly... Dan

I’ve never had one but thought about it, what are the advantages of one? I have my prop at about 1.5-1.75 below pad now and I’m not sure going higher has any advantage (tm lower), don’t know about going lower. Can someone tell me how/ what purpose it would serve?
