    Best prop for RT188

Picked up a 2018 RT188 single console with 115 ProXS Command Thrust. No Power-Poles or Talons. It has an aluminum prop currently. Is the Laser II 20p the best SS prop for this rig? That seems to be what I've seen is my web searches on the topic. Those who are running that, is this the part number: 48-16990A46?

I would HIGHLY doubt that a Laser2 is going to be a good prop for a 115 CT. The CT is the large hub lower unit. If you do decide to go with a Laser2, you have to realize they are made in two different hub sizes. Make sure you get the right one.

On the command thrust model you will be wanting to look at the tempest line of props. Like 06 said thats tha large bore gearcase not a good application for the laser.

I’ve never seen one at my local dealer that didn’t have a Tempist on it. As mentioned above, 21 should do ya, might be able to turn a 23? Let it turn some rpms...from what I’ve read the 4 strokes like to turn.

Got it, thanks. The Laser info maybe was from the non-CT 115s?

Correct on the Laser for the non CT lower units. I have a 20 Laser on my 2017 Rt188 with a 115 ProXS 4S and no jack plate. Mine was the national dealer show boat that year, real early copy of the 2017 and did not have the CT lower unit so it came with the Laser.

I run a Tempest Plus 21pitch. My numbers are 47.5mph(gps) @ 6150/6200rpm = 7.5% prop slip. The purpose of the command thrust gearcase is to allow you to run the same prop sizes that are run on the 150 4strokes.

Tempest is a good all around prop. I think they respond well to getting a little prop work done just like the lasers do ie cup and balance work. I had both of those done to my laser and man what a difference!

When, I bought my 2017 RT188C, with the 115 CT, it had the aluminum prop, I researched and found out that this engine was not supposed to have an aluminum prop, but a Tempest II 21p. I called Ranger and told them what I got from the dealership, they said pay for the Tempest II, which was like 560.00, send the prop I had on the engine back to them in the same box and they would reimburse my money. They did.

IDK. They are the factory installed ones. The only time PVS holes come into play are when you are coming out of the hole. I really do not see the need for this system with the CT gearcase.
