99 225 efi ticking

Hello BBC. I am looking at a new boat to me with a 99 225. It has a ticking sound, just like a lifter in a car. The gentleman with the boat for sale says that it started ticking when he had the injectors cleaned and put back in. Hasn't had any issues with the engine running whatsoever, and has been ran probably close to 100 hrs with the noise. I know I'd like to do a compression test on it, but wasn't able to do it today when I looked at the boat. But any ideas? I'm concerned of a cylinder being ran lean. Hoping for some help from someone who knows more than I do. Thanks again
