I have the same problem when fishing on Georgian Bay. I've wear sun gloves, but none of the pairs I use have a thumb part that's long enough to prevent my thumb being torn up, especially if it's raining and my skin is already soft from the rain. A band-aid will work, but doesn't last a full day. Here's the only viable solution I've ever found. I've worn these over my sun gloves for 2 years now and they work great! I buy them for my left hand.

I would try not being a pansy.
If that doesn't work maybe you could get your wife to help you.

No, that Robby thing won't give you a weird tan line or anything.

I was going to suggest you try those rubber thimbles that bank tellers use to count money but when I searched for those I saw they make some out of silicone for pulling needles. It might be too short to cover your entire thumb but for $1.99 it might be worth a shot. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Silicone-...hoCvgAQAvD_BwE

Try putting a condom over your thumb.
They come in a variety of colors that will match the color of your boat.

If you can't soak it in cider, you could pee on your hands to make them tougher like many MLB players have done.

I'm sure either Shaw Grigsby or Roland Martin endorses a product for that. If they don't, nobody does.

Some real wise guys lurking here, I laughed pretty hard getting through some of these helpful tips using things everyone has laying around I just don’t catch fish, my thumbs stay nice and fresh
I was on a walleye trip a couple weeks ago and asked the guide what happened to the carpet in his boat (there was fresh blood everywhere) He said the night before he was guiding for a guy and his teenage son, they were city folk and wanted to experience the north country. The teenager caught a 30 some inch pike and before the guide could get to it the kid out of sheer excitement decided to lip the fish in the net...... let’s just say the pike went into Chinese finger trap mode and shredded the kids thumb while shaking everywhere. Said he had to pry the mouth open with a pair of pliers....sounded like a real chit show. Probably could’ve used one of Jerry T’s simple fix pads!!!

If you're going to soak it in cider, make sure you use the Dicken's brand.
Dicken's Cider is a powerful curative for a lot of life's ailments

Eh, bass thumb is fine. It's braid thumb that's a b****. Hard to cast a baitcaster when you have your thumb falling apart along the lines of your fingerprint...
