I’ve located a 1995 181dc with a 135 black max. First 135 I recall seeing. Is this a good engine? Would the boat be underpowered? What speed should I expect? Thanks

Others will be along that know more than me, but I believe the 135 is just a tuned down 150, a buddy had one on his walleye boat. Engine should be fine, although if it was me I would have a trusted mechanic check it out. I don't think it would be underpowered, should be a 50ish MPH boat. It is a really great hull, very fun to drive and can handle some choppy water. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Ok Thanks!!
135 is the old 2.0L 150 before they prop rated the horsepower. Not many motors made that live longer. Just make sure you prop it to run 6,000 rpms and it'll live a very long time.

Good news! Thanks Pat!
135s are bad ass little motors, dad had one on a 176, and he was faster than my 176 with a 150..same props
