Prop and all the hardware I'll need to replace it. From the nut to the wrench. Nothing is worse than being dead on the water.
Carry both I have a cheap aluminum prop that weighs zero to save weight, but it will get me home.
I carry the aluminum prop that was in the boat when I bought it. It weighs nothing so why not have it?

Carry a spare prop, pressed in hub. Also tools and block of wood to change. Slung an ear, and made the repair on the lake. Was a long way from the launch, and not a lot of boat traffic if you looked for help.
Partner slung a blade in a tourney, spare was home in the garage. Three hours to idle back to the launch. No lower unit damage, slow trip. Missed weigh in with a good sack.
Spare hub and the tools to remove and replace the prop with new cotter pin.

Don’t carry either on a regular basis. If I’m running several miles down river with a lot of current I’ll throw it in a rod box. Never spun a hub, or a blade.

on bass boat I carry spare hub. If prop bites dust, at least have trolling motor to get me in, or at least to a shore. In salt water boat, I have prop/hub/wrench ready to go.

Slung a prop blade on a 3 blade prop on my last boat. Went out after work and had several miles to get back to the ramp before dark. Stood on the trolling motor the whole way. Did not do any damage to the lower unit. Bought a new prop the next day.
I keep a spare prop/hub like the one I use in my current boat with a block of wood, breaker bar/socket and a piece of PVC for leverage. Also have spare washers and nut in the boat. Chit happens. Have a basic dial indicator with the magnetic base/rods to check prop shaft runout at home.

I carry a prop wrench but have never carried a prop in 40 years of boating
Yes, both prop and kit. Have been doing that since 1981!
Don't go on vacation without a spare?
On mine the wrench and prop are jammed back in a rod locker corner out of the way so I don’t think about it or even know it is there. Well, until I hit the submerged 2x4. Then I thought about it! Took maybe 20 min to change out And my day was restored. As soon as I got it working I went and found the offending 2x4 chunk and tossed it in the boat. As has been said, my spare was the original aluminum prop. Now I use a Piranha Prop and carry an extra set of blades with me.
Just the spare hub in a compartment for me.....

Hub yes, prop no.
I got nothin
hub, prop and the tools to change it, but only when on a body of water that I won't have cell service on and can easily be a long way from the boat ramp such as Lake Mead or Lake Powel where you can easily be 60 miles from the nearest boat ramp. Better to have all the stuff then spending the night.
Always have a spare, Pro Max motors melting press in hubs got me in to that
Thank You Leon Pugh
