Slung a blade in a tournament once about 15 miles from the ramp. 3 blades on a 4 blade prop does not work well. Have carried extra prop, hub kit with washers and nut and do not forget the prop wrench and a block of wood to jam the blade stationary for removal/installation. It only takes once running in with 3 blades to convince you, lol.

I will next year be carrying a spare prop.

I fish a lot of remote rocky lakes, give me peace of mind.

On the surface, both sounds like a good idea.
But, if an SS prop gets seriously chewed up by a rock or whatever, I
would think checking out the engine (lower unit) before
firing it up again would be advisable. I vote for a TM, kicker or find a good samaritan.

Just the hub. No room for a spare prop.

Not in the boat. Our lakes are less than 10,000 acres. If something horribly wrong happens, I’ll just hitch a ride back to the truck and pick it up. I need all the space I can get in my boat.

Both - saved my butt this year also when I threw a blade 30 miles from the launch. After that I also started carrying a breaker bar and deep socket.

I carry a spare boat with me. Never know when you will need a prop, graph, trolling motor, battery, lower unit etc.

I carry both. A spare prop has got me back to the ramp three times over the years and I was a long way out.Its cheap insurance, even a cheap aluminum one will get you home.

I carry both and I've used both. I just about froze my feet off one morning while standing in ankle deep water on an unmarked gravel bar changing my prop. And don't expect people to stop and offer help on a tournament day... nope, they just fly by.

I did a swap on the water after hitting a 3’ chunk of waterlogged 2”x 4” that wiped out a blade. Took a lot less time than paddling 4 miles!

I realize most of you guys fish tournaments, but I don't. I fish usually on camping trips, which for me it's 7-14 days, usually most months out of the year. I started carrying a spare prop this year because I didn't want to be on day 1 of a 7 day trip, several hours from home and be dead in the water. Both my props have pressed on hubs. Welded a but on a piece of all thread to hold the prop down in the bilge.

Never had to use it but I carry a spare prop. Can't remember the brand but one of the sponsors on this board has a nice cushioned prop bag that I store it in.

Have a good one and thank God for it!
