    Over charge of batteries from regulator part 2

    Got the cdi regulators and installed them. The epoxy is black so I wont be able to see any further charring, bit here are the old ones. Brown at solder joints, and burnt bullet connectors. I replaced the connectors with what was provided along with plastic protectors.

    Now to find a wet cell starting battery that will start and run my graphs, pumps etc. I currently have a north star agm.

    Good job! Make sure you fasten the black ground wire on the new ones.

    They ground out through the bolts/nuts

    Ok,I only used Mercury replacement and they had a ground wire.

    Unfortunately the "aftermarket" units lack some of the big improvements made in the OEM units (Redundant Grounding and Fuse-Protected Power/Charge Circuits, for instance).
