I guess it depends on the cover you normally flip. If you are just flipping docks and laydowns than the 7'2" H or 7'2MH is a good rod, but if you're wanting to pitch heavy bushes or thick grass than you might want to step up to the 7'6" heavy. I don't pitch many docks and I still really like the 7'2"H. I personally like the shorter rod in most scenarios and have never really fealt like it was undersized. If you're fishing docks on some of the Iowa lakes than definitely the 7'2" I think its much easier to skip with the shorter rod. Where are you located in Iowa?

For 3/8oz-1/2oz you definitely want the 7'2MH. I have this rod and that's definitely it's sweet spot for jigs BUT ONLY in grass and light cover.

I wouldn't be punching or fishing pads with the 72MH.

the the 3/8s and lighter you definitely want the 7'2 mh. but for the 1/2 oz and up i might consider the 7'2 hvy model if you are doing a little more hvy cover.
