New 2019 Chevy Silverado custom with 4.3 six towing

Any you guys out there towing with this rig? Curious to see some opinions. My current setup is a 2010 Ram towing a z521 Ranger and the ram does a great job, however I am a Chevy fan ( had an 07 Silverado before the Ram) and looking to get one of the 2019 custom. Thanks in advance

The 4.3 is gonna leave you wanting more. Sure, it will pull it but your foot will be pushing more than with an 8 cylinder and not much if any at all fuel savings. Personally, I would not do it especially with that 521.

Could not agree more. You will never be happy with it.

    I didn’t even care for the 5.3. I would go the 6.2.

4.3 is a great motor, But not for a tow vehicle for a big load. I had one and not great for towing. I wasnt even happy with the 4.8L V8... I now have a 6.0L and it gets 2 more mpg than the 4.8L and way more power.

To give you an idea, I pulled a good friends new 520L down to southern Florida earlier this year with my Tundra. Those Rangers are beast on the interstate with the parachute cover on them. I dropped the transmission down in 5th and set the cruise at 74 and let her eat. It's about 1500 miles round trip from his house there and back. We averaged right at 12 MPG. Would the V6 do it, I guess it would. Would it do it like a V8? No way. I've pulled a 20' Stratos and Cat with a Toyota V-6 but they had a much lower gear than Chevy's 3.42. Even at 1-1 (which that 6 speed doesn't have) you would not like the torque. The 6 speed is all under or over drive. They used to put the 3.73 gears in the V-6, I wonder why they changed that? That gearing would be great for a smaller bass boat, but pulling a 521 I'd want at least the 5.3 and preferably the 6.2 in a GM.

I have a 4.30 rear end and a 5.7 in the Tundra and true 1-1 in 4th gear. Pulling the 520L with a cover it seldom came out of 5th gear with the adaptive cruise in the low 70's.

Face it, I've driven the Toyota V-8's and they are a beast. The 4.3 will do the job but the 5.3 has 80 foot pounds more torque, 383 versus 305. You will notice the difference. At some time you will sell that truck, and many old schoolers won't consider buying it with a V-6. I have one in my 1985 1500, and I have towed 5000 pounds with it. It has held up very well but there is nothing left as far as power with that load on it.

The new Chevy Silverado 1500 can be had with a 3.0 turbo inline 6 diesel. 460 ft/lb torque at 1500 rpm and 277 hp. 10 speed trans. Given that the diesel Colorado I have tows my heavy, dual axle Skeeter with no problem, I have no doubt that the Silverado will do extremely well.
