    Favorite rib rub

I've been trying different stuff this year on the new smoker...some better than others. So far the Memphis Dust recipe has been the best I have made. Still looking for a more savory rub with a good heat kick to it.

    Anything you guys suggest?

My wife likes sweeter ribs and pork and I use Meat Church Honey Hog. It is awesome!

I looked around at many rubs but they are way too salty. You can, if you want, google Byron’s Butt Rub (or any brand) clone and mix up your own and add whatever you like to tweak it to your taste. Simple to do and most cooks have the ingredients in the house or at any market. I use Mexican, Asian, and Middle East grocers to buy stuff and it’s a helluva lot cheaper than the little bottles of McCormick and the like. This is a basic one I found years ago. I leave out the clove (hot), salt, and celery seed. I grind the oregano with a tbsp of Italian seasoning to make it a powder and easier to mix. I’ve added allspice, garam masala, and other stuff to experiment with at times. It’s part of the fun in my opinion. (Your mileage may vary)

    I like Byrons Butt Rub.

Also as mentioned above find an ethnic market and buy your spices from them if you are going to mix your own. The little bottles sold at whatever supermarket are stupid expensive. I found an Indian market locally that will actually ship. I just order online and refill my little bottles

If you want heat and you won't need much try Shipshewana Fire seasoning.

Bad Byron's is good. It is a little more heat.
Killer Hogs bbq rub is awesome. It's more sweet.

Malcom at Killer Hogs has a Hot BBQ rub that is fantastic. It won't burn your face off but it will give you just enough heat that you know it's there. Here's a link to his "BBQ Shop"

ive been using Meat mitch rub the past little bit and its so far been one of my favorites... though it is a mild rub... ive found that I can mix in some hot spices into it without effecting the flavor of it too much.

    Kansas City Rib rub. Homemade.
Adjust salt, cayenne, and black pepper to taste. And I use 1/2 Paprika, 1/2 Smoked Paprika.

Cimarron Docs is what I used for competition, with some Smokin' Guns Hot. Now at home I use Butt Rub and finish with John Henry Wild Cherry Chipotle.

I found this and its delicious. Rib apple glaze.

    1/2 cup of each
    honey
    Bbq sauce
    Apple sauce
    1 teaspoon hot sauce
    1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper
    Whisk together.
This goes on the last 15 minutes of smoking.

If you want the entire recipe for smoking the ribs lemme know.

Go to smoking-meats.com. Buy the recipe to Jeff’s rub. By far the best.

Bad Byron’s butt rub is nothing but salt. Blah.
Memphis dust is what I use mostly.
