    A want, not need

I’m fortunate enough to be able to get myself what I’d call luxury equipment once in a while. I’ve been wanting a really nice spinning rod for a while to upgrade for some of my favorite finesse techniques (Ned, hair jigs, maybe a little dropshot) I have all different brands and I’m open to suggestions. Looking preferably in the 7’1” to 7’6” range with a nice tip, good comfortable feel, and supreme sensitivity. Probably pairing with a Daiwa ballistic LT or exist... budgets open right now, this is a spoiled purchase...
Current considerations are the NRX/Conquest 902? series, Daiwa Tatula AGS 7’ 1” or 7’6”, St. Croix Legend Extreme, never owned a megabass, Dobyn’s extasy....
    Thanks for the input

When I was looking for something along those lines, I could not find what I wanted. Ended up going to a custom builder, told him what I was looking for. He built a rod that fit what I was looking for perfectly.

I definitely would go with the St. Croix.

The NRX 902 is a fantastic ned rod. Only problem is they quit making them so you will have to find a used one and they are not for sale very often. The conquest 902 doesn't fish like the nrx; fishes stiffer and doesn't make nearly as good of a ned rod.

If you can find a 902nrx buy it before it is gone!!

As for the reel; the exist or a stella would be top of the line!

Anyone know if they are making a limited run of 901/902 NRX? I thought I saw something stating that this summer...

Man I hope that is true. If they do I will be buying a couple more.

Another rod you might consider is the Diawa Steez stz761mmlfs-ags. I bought one of these when I could not find another nrx902.
It is acutally a really good rod that is light and very sensitive. It does make a really good ned rod.

I have NRX’s currently as my highest cost rods and I feel they are amazing for the techniques they are designed for and are a joy to fish with, I’m just not sure they have the rod I want. I also have St. Croix’s costing a lot less that have very clean crisp sensitivity, reasonably light, but just are missing something.
Thanks for the opinions, keep’em coming

Buy the NRX and never look back. It is the finest rod in all of fishing. I personally would go with the GLX because I have both and both have absolutely unmatched sensitivity. The difference in the two is VERY slight, so for me the NRX is not worth exta $$$.

I have fished this type fishing a very long time. A mistake I made for a long time and a mistake I feel most make is to small of a reel. Most want a 2000 or 2500. Keep the weight down they think. I am now using 3000 and next one I buy ( when one dies only) will be 4000. Check some of the pros that are well known for primarily using the spinning rod and you will see many use the 4000. BTW I would go with Diawa rod & reel!
