If you don't have a "need" for the dual console, I think I'd be after the 191. I have a 2000 191 DC. The time's I'm out by myself, I wish it was a single console, and the more I fish out of it the more I feel that way. But the reality of it is the boat gets some dual use with the wife and kids along for the ride or fishing or what not, and I'm not sure I'd get away with having a SC with them, and two boats is out of the question. So maybe that is some food for thought. Otherwise, the bigger front deck on the 191 you would probably appreciate over the 181. If you are at all used to other boats with bigger, wider front decks, I suspect the 181 will feel pretty small, heck the 191 might also feel small, but it's all relative. But it's a good "office" to work out of for fishing. The 191 should be able to go anywhere the 181 could go, the smaller size probably won't have much impact on that. Others with a whole lot more experience than me will chime in for sure.

The 191 would be my choice. The dual console on the 181 will take up a lot of space. If you're worried about passengers in the single console, have some ski-type goggles on board.

I have a 181 single console, agree that the dual console would get in the way on a 181. Love the single console, but think i would want a longer boat if I had a dual console. I'd lay some rods on both sides of the front deck and stand up there to see what it would feel like while fishing.

    So in 1996 the 181 was rated for a 175hp motor? My 1997 181 is rated for a 150.

yes i know 181 are 150hp rated, but in looking for a champion boat i have ran into several that have 175hp on them. I called a couple insurance people and they didn't care. the only question i got was will it go over 80 mph.
p.s. the first thing i would do is put 150hp stickers on it ha ha ha

I don’t think insurance cares as much as what we think. It’s a recommended rating by the coast guard. Every boat I’ve owned they always asked the same question- speed. I always told them 45 mph

Very nice! Great blue color scheme. Enjoy the times ahead, it's a very fun and capable model.
