I have a 6" manual on the boat right now. Looking to upgrade to an Atlas HJP.
Should I go with a 6" or 8" ... and why?

I would go with the 8". I run a fixed 10" as before it was a 6". Big improvement in handling and less chime walk. The 8" will give you better handling and performance.
Second the 8". Leverage! Make sure to add the lift plate to cover the opening at the bottom of the Atlas.

Check the current length of the hydraulic steering hoses and elec. wiring. You should have enough to go with the 8" at least.

I have an 09 Evo, I went from a 6 in. fixed to an 8in. Atlas Hyd. No problems.

I ran a 2014 201 Evo with Pro XS. I upgraded from the 6" manual to an 8" Atlas hydraulic and the performance improvement was great. I got better hole shot and rough water performance right off the bat. Top end speed wasn't really affected as my manual was set for top speed already. I'd never own an EVO without a hydraulic plate. It always felt like there was a significant difference in where the plate needed to be for top speed vs where it performed best on hole shot.
