I've never gone without in 40 years of boating.
I might run like a nut sometimes but the safety of others is always on my mind...
Mine is always attached.
Didnt need the law for me to use mine. Always connected!

Not required for that from what I read.
But I’m with you on the law. Don’t like it. Main reason is there’s a big difference in being thrown out or falling asleep at the helm on a boat with a foot throttle compared to the conventional throttle.
I don’t like the seatbelt law either.
Few other laws I don’t like, but I won’t mention them at this time.

This just may allow me to try out the new life preserver I bought a couple yrs ago @ BPS. They have a mesh section in the shoulder area. I thought I might tend to wear these in the cold weather months as they shouldn't be as bulky over a heavy coat or burr suit. They also shouldn't be as HOT in the Summer months.
I tried one of them self inflate jobs not long after they began selling them at big box stores. Went out to open the storage box it was in on my then Champion boat, and the sucker had blowed itself up!! That was the end of that idea.
I know the standard answer to the HIGH dollar self inflatables is how much is your life worth. So nobody needs to tell me that. Same as nobody needs to tell me to wear my seat belt.
Choice is a good thing.
Rules are for those that don't have the good sense or imagination to make their own.
