    rub marks from loading

When first getting used to my boat I made some rub marks on the side of the boat. They will not come off no matter how hard I try. Any idea how to make these look like new?

And how did I even do it to begin with? Still a mystery to me.

Auto rubbing compound. My rub marks did not go through the clear coat, so they came off easily.

"Magic Sponge" often gets those marks out with a bit of elbow grease.

Are you referring to the magic eraser or is that something different?

There are drill based polishing kits available from your local auto part supplier that will work as well....essentially a dual action polisher which attaches to any drill. I suggest picking up a cutting pad and polishing pad for the kit. Meguiars is the one who makes the kit and polish both. I suggest Meguiars Ultimate Compound as well as their Ultimate Polish. Start with the polish and see if it comes out...if not go more aggressive with the compound, but know that you will need to follow up with a pass of polish to remove the haze left by the compound. It isn't difficult to do, but just takes some trial and error...nice thing is you cant really hurt anything with a dual action polisher. Best of luck and hope it turns out well!

Sorry, I think it's called a magic eraser, it's a white spongy block that looks like a sponge you'd use in the kitchen sink, but it's a bit rubberier.
