Hmm. Kind of view that as a sacrificial piece. If it's too robust, then something else will need to give - like the boat's rail, which is a much more expensive repair.
Still, a larger rubber bumper/end cap appears to be the solution needed vs. the factory plastic piece. Got any old bike tires laying around...? lol

Anyone have a friend with a 3D printer? I think they often print using ABS plastic.

I found them on Amazon, they are identical to what came on the boat but they are in aluminum! I put them on my boat today, they come in a 10Pk with shipping and everything it was $14. It took me a couple weeks to find them and honestly I got lucky. I hope this helps. Temple Products 10 Pack RV Camper Trailer Aluminum Black Flat End Cap for Trim Molding 1" & Screws

Those screws are a little tricky also a square bit worked much better than a Phillips.

I purchased the end caps MJC_180 mentioned in post #24. Thanks for that by the way. They look great and are really close to the factory ones. I persuaded them just a little bit with the handle on the screwdriver.

I need those as well. But first I need to replace the leaf spring on my trailer that snapped in two this afternoon.
