    Ranger RT Rub Rail

Hey - RT owners or anyone really...

Have any of y'all done anything to improve on the technique Ranger uses to cap the ends of the side rub rails (ref below)?
This system is kind of Cheap-o and flimsy. I need something a bit more robust.

    Thanks

Mines not a ranger but I bent up some aluminum to replace mine on my triton vt17. The plastic is junk for the corners of a boat.

Yeah they do damage easily on a dock or such. I called up Ranger within a couple weeks of buying the boat and had them send me several. A metal cap would be much better.

I made several out of plastic cutting board material. Used a Dremal. They were solid but the docks destroyed them too.

I did the same thing on mine, got in a hurry and backed into a dock and it's looked just like that ever since. It doesn't take much to crack it.

And here I thought it was just me with the same problem.
    Wound up buying 4 extras.

    Which reminds me...
Need to buy some extra plastic wheel caps. Cracked 2 so far.
    Man, those things are cheap.

I lost one wheel cap about six months in, took the other one off when I got new tires and put it up. The way the connect none are going to stay put real well without adding sealant or something to help out. IMO You’d be better off getting some that go in from behind if you want center caps.

And it doesn't even come with the #8 fastener. I think I will leave mine off.

Does anyone have the part number for the end cap on a RT198 P? I knocked the one off the port side getting a little to close to a tree.

    Here is what I did.
With the textured camo paint, it blends very well. Best there are no screw heads hanging out.

Very nice work, what kind of epoxy did you use?

    Thanks Guys!

It is made by CRC, Minute Mend. It is that semi solid epoxy that is one roll with the Hardener one layers rolled around the Resin. Like a two-part Toosie Roll. Cut off a section and knead them together, shape it close, wait 1 hour plus, sand, and then paint. (After painting, I dabbed it with a rag, to give it more of a non gloss look. (You could spent much more time to make it look more better, but heck, it is going to get banged around and with my camo finish, it blended well.)
