Reclearing custom pointer

Hey guys I am hoping you guys can give me some advice. I have a custom painted bluegill lucky craft pointer 78 which i love. Over the years the finish has a couple cracks in it and I like to clear coat it or epoxy it to help protect it. What do you guys recommend?

Automotive clear would be the lightest clear. Epoxy will add weight to the pointer, which might hurt the action a little.
