    FX 21 advice

I bought a 2018 FX 21 with 250 SHO a few months ago and can only get 66 mph out of it. I have a 25 T2 prop, two talons, 90 lbs (weighed it) of tackle in the front box along with 15 rods. In the back boxes I have miscellaneous stuff on starboard side and leave the port side open for partner.

Tonight the air temp was 84 degrees, 62% humidity, 7 mph wind so light chop, and 60% fuel.

5 dots is 2 7/8 below pad, 5630 rpm, 66 mph, 18 psi with wind.
5 dots at 2 7/8 below pad, 5560 rpm, 64.5 mph, 18 psi against wind.

    6 dots.....5610 rpm, 66.5 17 psi with wind
    6 dots.....5600 rpm, 64.5, 17 psi against wind

    7 dots.....5620, 66.5, 17 with wind
    7 dots.....5610, 64, 17 against

    8 dots.....5700, 66.2, 17 with wind
    8 dots.....5670, 64, 17 against

    9 dots.....5710. 65.8, 17 with wind
    9 dots.....5700, 64, 17 against

Not sure what the measurements below pad on the other dots are. I am getting decent bow lift and good hole shot. Also had a guy load up while I was moving motor and he had 2017 FX 21 with 25 prop with about 75 pounds of tackle in his front box. He said he gets 72 mph. I would have loved to have tried his prop, but he had an 1.5 hour drive home and was ready to leave. Also he had his motor set at 6 dots.

I also have 6 years of warranty left so don't want to flash and ruin that.

    Any advice.....Thanks

Yeah you definitely got to get the RPM's up. I would try another prop if possible to see if it makes a difference.

Send that 25 off to Mark or get a Razor XL or Bravo.

Just need to get the RPM's up. Prop change or have someone work on it.

1 dot on the plate = 1/4" difference in PTP measurement.

I’d check throttle/hotfoot adjustments and make sure the throttle is opening 100% before I did anything else

2nd the hotfoot. Usually the problem. Need 2 people. Take cowling off and have one guy watch the throttle linkage while the other presses the hotfoot

I will check it tonight when I get in, but are you saying the trottle body should hit something solid with little or not play? And if it has some play, do you extend at the motor?
And if you extend at the motor, will that affect the idle at all?

there is a screw on the hot foot that stops the range of travel. Its located behind the pedal. These vibrate loose sometimes and keeps the pedal from full throttle, or in a good amount of cases were not adjusted/tightened when the dealers prepped the boat and are not found by a lot of people until halfway through the break in.

The bolt was not adjusted properly. It lacked about 1/8 inch before the arrows lined up. I adjusted it to where it just barely touches the line up arrows, went to the lake to see if it made any difference. Unfortunately it did not. Same performance as stated above.

I adjust the trim between 90 to as high as it will go which is a tail shooting the same height as the motor to 8' above. With the tail just above the motor gives the best performance stated at the beginning of this topic.

No, my Talons are not dragging, we have checked that.

Would try a different prop, if that doesn't change anything then I would take it to the dealer.
