Does anybody know the difference between a Razor 4 and a Razor 4xl? On the Croxton web site I see that both have vent holes. Is there a diameter difference?

Yes.

Razor 4 is 14 1/2" diameter and 4XL is 15 1/4"
Totally different props... The Razor4 has OMC Raker style blades and 14.5 diameter. The XL has Bravo1 style blades and 15+ in diameter.

Mike,
How does the Razor 4xl compare to the Fury 4? Would a 24 pitch 4xl be comparable to a 25 pitch Fury 4?
The Fury4 is stiffer in pitch, smaller diameter, maybe a little faster with a light load. The XL will carry a heavier load, better holeshot. Both handle great.

Diameter is not the only thing that makes props turn harder... Rake and cup play a bigger role than diameter sometimes. The Razor4 turns stiffer than the XL I think... I'd call and ask Mark what he thinks.

Thanks...that explanation makes sense.
I run a 23 R4XL on my 97 Basscat Eyra/Mercury 150 EFI. Totally different boat and motor, of course but similar size to yours perhaps.
I can turn a 24p Fury 3 to 5750 light loaded. I had to have Mark take a couple hundred rpms out of the 23p R4XL. A 22p would have been just about spot on.
Just my experience if it helps. Definitely talk to Mark though
Excellent information...I have debated on getting 4 blade to reduce my hole-shot time. It's hard to find a used Bravo I, Razor 4 or Razor 4 XL in anything less than 24 pitch. Based on what information I have gathered I need a 22 Bravo I XS, 23 Razor 4 or a 22 Razor 4XL. I suppose some day I might come off my tight ass and just have Mark send me a new Razor in the style/pitch he recommends.
There is one for sale right now down in the propeller for sale section. You might want Mark to drill vents. I’m not sure what it has, but a 22 pitch normally does not need much venting.

I'm pretty tight too! :)
I went with a R4XL after testing a Signature SL4 24p that made the rounds. It's another Bravo-style prop, but only made in even pitches. I found that this style prop did the best carrying a tournament load in my little Eyra. A Fury 3 was faster and is a blast to drive on fun days, but was more difficult to drive with full livewells.. ie slower holeshot, maneuvering wakes and navigating rough water.
I run a Razo 4 XL and highly recommend it. My 25 Tempest low rpm cruise was 32 mph while I can stay planed out at 24 mph with my 24 Razor 4.
