James River fishing question

I just moved and I’m close to the ramp at route 156 on the James river. I want to launch there this weekend and fish up and into the Appomattox River to about the I-295 bridge. Is there any thing I should know that is hiding under the water? If I go slow and stay toward the middle of river, will I be fine?

You have channel markers along the entire route you just described. Use them while on plane and you will be fine.

Like BFS says,,,,,, Stay in channel markers in James as you head into the Appomattox river. It gets REAL shallow at low tide in the flats heading into Appomattox. Channel markers are your friend.

That flat claimed a body part several years ago when the outboard came into the boat (Gambler). Keep an eye out for the wing dams in the vicinity of the 295 high rise bridge.
