Got out Yesterday with a low tide at 1130 at Indian Head after a month absence and the river has really begun the fall transition. Lots of dead grass patches everywhere and lots of "floaters", some really big. Water was 74 degrees at Leesylvania launch and stained, but not muddy. I thought it would rain any minute during my short time in the Mattawoman (Only had 2 hours) from 1000 to 1200, but no rain. The Grinders grass bed is really pronounced and very yellow now, but in front of the edge for 20ft or so is healthy bushy grass submerged. I fished the entire grass line down and back from the main channel down to the wharf pilings throwing everything the FLW big boys used (except a drop shot) and zippo bites. Glad I only had two hours. No wind at all. No other boats in the two hours I was there in the dead zone.
