    1993 p2 setup help

Hello, lookin for some setup help!!!!! Just bought a 93 p2 with 2.5 xri 200, the prop that came on it was a 26pitch turbo 3 blade that has been worked, motor was 5.25 below pad and holeshot was ok and would only turn 5300-5400 and run 58mph, raised motor to 3.25 and tried again and that was little high, was blowing out after getting on plane and turning also. left motor at 3.25 and tried 25pitch turbo 4 blade, rpm was around 6000, but only 63.2 mph, motor needs to come back down some i believe< but question is what should boat run, i feel it should be a little faster and i think im getting to much slip with 4 blade cause motor is to high< but i am a rookie when it comes to this!!!!! Any help is much appreciated

Rule #1 of setup: Take it too far and bring it back. You've found what too high is, now you need to find just right. With your normal fishing load start coming down 1/4" at a time until you lose speed, then back a click, now you'll know what just right is. Turbo is a dice roll prop, no two run the same, so you have to consider what's right on THAT prop.

I'd look for a 24 or 25 Tempest or Trophy to try and be well pleased if it would touch 68-70. Older motor and the hull may have gained a little weight over the years

Does your boat have a jack plate or are you just moving it hole to hole.

I’m from St.Louis too. I have a 90 P2 with a 2.5 200. I forget exactly what my measurements are. But I have the top 3 holes filled on my lower, 8” jackplate, turning a 25 tempest. 70.5mph with two guys fully tournament loaded. Where do you boat at?
