2017 Evinrude E-tec 150 HO loss of power?

    E150HGLABH

I've had this engine for a year and a half, it has been running awesome, great hole shot, runs at 56 MPH WOT around 5600 RPM.

Yesterday I was doing alot of slow putting in No-wakes & when I was able to go fast, it had a loss of power coming out of the hole and the max RPM's was 5000.

The engine has around 100 hours, never been touched, 3 year, 300 hours no maintenance.

    I'm thinking plugs?

    Thanks, Ed

Any LED's come on the gauge? How do the plugs look and when was the last time they were replaced?

    No lights or alarms
I never replaced the plugs, but i did look at them, they all looked good except for one that looked wet & had a big gap.

I checked the gaps on all of them & dried off the wet one, I took it to the local lake & still has the same problem.

I ordered new plugs thru Rock Auto ($6.52 a piece)

yep, i ordered 8 for indexing

So, your thinking the plugs are the problem? Is there any other issues with this engine which would cause the plugs to go bad?

    thanks for the info

100 is about the life of them gap them a .028" tight. You may want to have your dealer run Diags on the injector especially the one that had the wet plug.

I changed all the plugs, the problem still exists, loss of power, hard time getting up on plane, less RPM's & speed.

    No lights or alarm.

I have a ten year warranty, I was hoping the plugs would do it. Who knows how long the shop would have it.

    Maybe a bad injector?

    thanks

Is your boat also a 2017? Chance of bad gas or some crud in the tank/s?

    My Boat is a 1998 Triton TR-20,

The boat is well used, I've had the boat since 2001, use it 3 days a week,

Boat never sits, always adding new fuel (89 octane) with seafoam.

Today, i used a timing light & checked each spark plug wire to see if there was spark going to each cylinder, all 6 plugs are firing,

The only problem I see is the lower starboard spark plug is wet, all the others are dry.

Sounds like an injector. Call the Fuelinjector man and ask him his thought about using Seafoam on an ETEC injector.

Is it bad for the engine to run it in this condition?

I have a tournament Saturday and I would like to take the boat and then bring it to the shop.

Is this cylinder getting oil? I won't use the boat if it will do damage to the engine .

What happens when a injector goes bad, NO fuel, NO oil? does the oil come thru the injector too?

    thanks

I personally wouldn't run it but would be at the dealership bright and early Tuesday morning. If it is an injector it won't take them long to replace it.

Engine is back running awesome again, It ended up being a bad injector (no. 5).
    87 hours on engine.
It was covered under warranty, so that was good, the only draw back was that the shop had my boat for 10 days.
Luckily I have a spare 14 foot boat, so I was able to go out fishing.

    Thanks for all that replied

Good to hear. 10 days isn't too bad.
