Going there for the first time, anyone have any tips for Sandusky Bay/Lake Erie in OH? Any help is greatly appreciated, it looks slightly intimidating for my first time on Erie.

Be careful! There is pleny good fishing in the Bay, if you don't want to venture out on the main lake. Lots of largemouth and even some resident smallies in the Bay and in the marinas.
"The man of system is apt to be very wise in his own conceit; and is often so enamored with the supposed beauty of his own ideal plan of government that he cannot suffer the smallest deviation from any part of it…He seems to imagine that he can arrange the different members of a great society with as much ease as the hand arranges the different pieces upon a chessboard.” Adam Smith, The Theory of Moral Sentiments
When Jeff says be careful, he’s not wrong. While there are certainly bodies of water with more obstructions, on Sandusky Bay any of the jetties near shore can be very hazardous [to your prop, mainly] as you go in and out. Lots of old concrete and building rubble, so you must go straight in and straight out or risk running aground. There are also sandbars to avoid like the plague, and then when the tuna boats get running mid-day, especially between Cedar Point and the more populous city area, you’ll thinking you’re in a washing machine on spin cycle. Moderate to strong west or east winds make for adventurous boating, as the Bay is pretty big, wide open, and lies east/west.

Here is what others are talking about; this was my view as a boat captain for our youth team during the August 18 tournament on Sandusky Bay:

That was a wicked storm that day. I was a boat captain as well. Ended up finding a covered slip.
